Under the general supervision of the senior associate athletic director for development, the assistant athletic director for development will plan, organize, and manage the development of major gift support for athletics department fundraising priorities. The assistant athletic director will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donor prospects at the $100K+ level and will work with key volunteers in assigned regions/groups. This position may also be responsible for developing and executing the fundraising strategy for a specific campaign program priority related to athletics and working with assigned volunteer groups.

Professional fundraising or equivalent experience with a demonstrated track record of soliciting, closing, and stewarding major gifts.

- Experience working in a fundraising capacity within a Division I intercollegiate athletics department
- Experience working in a capital campaign
- Experience with planned giving, or corporate and foundation fundraising
- Experience working in education, nonprofit industry, or a related field

License/Certification Required

Valid Texas Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than three moving violations within the past 36 months and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past five years.

License/Certification Preferred

Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE)

- Data analysis skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
- Attention to detail and ability to quickly understand and remember details about alumni/donors and projects to which they are assigned

Skills Preferred

- Working knowledge of fundraising database software
- Familiarity with fundraising in a higher education environment

Internal / External Contacts

Internal Contacts: The incumbent is in contact with all areas of the campus in person, by telephone, and electronically. S/he has extensive contact and occasional travel with the upper-level administrators.

External Contacts: The incumbent is in personal contact with a wide range of volunteers, donors, and alumni.

Essential Functions

- Works collaboratively with athletics staff and development colleagues in support of fundraising initiatives
- Collaborates on development-related communications and events
