Assistant Professor: Quantum Information, Quantum Sensing and Quantum Computing

The Department of Physics and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, at the University of California, Berkeley are conducting an open search to fill one or more tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in Quantum Information Science and Technology (experiment or theory) with an expected start date of July 1, 2020. Joint appointments with UC-affiliated institutes and initiatives (such as Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) or other UC Berkeley departments (such as the Department of Chemistry), will also be considered. The Department seeks candidates who have demonstrated originality and productivity in research, promise in teaching, and the potential to advance the department's goal of a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive scholarly environment, and in alignment with Federal affirmative action goals and the UC Berkeley strategic plan for equity and inclusion: http://diversity.berkeley.edu/uc-berkeley-strategic-plan-equity-inclusion-and-diversity

The basic qualifications required to be considered for this position are a Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree), or enrollment in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent international degree is preferred by the date of hire.

Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated originality and productivity in research, promise in teaching, and the potential to advance the department's goal of a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive scholarly environment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
