Job Details
Serve as the IT Specialist for the administrative and college staff. Assist in supervising part time IT staff members, and provide training to junior staff members as needed.
This position is funded with non-continuous or non-recurring funding and is subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and the needs of the college.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as the IT Specialist for the administrative and college staff.Perform individual and group training on the use of the conference/collaboration rooms. Provides support and training to junior staff members as needed.Track and maintain helpdesk tickets using SmarterTrack helpdesk system. Perform computer and laptop repair (PC/MAC), desktop operating system and software support, configuration and upgrade. Create, troubleshoot and deploy computer images. Provide technical support for networks peripherals, computers / laptop hardware and software (PC/MAC), conference/collaboration rooms, and video conferencing rooms. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with technical and nontechnical personnel. Schedule can include occasional evenings or Saturday work. Plan and complete technical tasks with minimal supervision. Accept other duties as they’re assigned.
Minimum QualificationsAssociate Degree in Information Systems Technology or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Previous experience maintaining LAN’s, desktop/laptops, peripherals and associated software (PC/MAC)
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree with coursework in Information Systems Technology.Significant experience maintaining LANs, desktop/laptops, peripherals and associated software (PC/MAC). Proven experience creating and deploying images. Experience with planning and completing technical tasks with minimal supervision.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students and administrators. Knowledge of and ability to train others in distance education tools, and the ability to work with students and faculty in an educational environment. Ability to install and troubleshoot computer software and hardware. Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with technical and nontechnical personnel. Working knowledge and experience creating and deploying images. Proficiency with both Microsoft and Apple OS’s and suite of Office applications.Proven ability to plan and complete technical tasks with minimal supervision.
