Basic Function

The Computer Lab Technician will support the technical equipment found in the classrooms and computer labs. This position will work with the campus IT staff performing installations and upgrades of computer software, hardware and peripheral as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

As the Computer Lab Technician your duties will include:

•Provide technical support of desktop computers, peripherals, and the technology installed in classrooms.
•Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software problems with PC’s and laptops.
•Perform the inventory tracking for the Information and Engineering Technologies (IET) division at the Manassas campus.
•Plan and complete technical tasks with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

•High School Diploma or higher education
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting problems with PC’s and laptops.

Preferred Qualifications

•AS degree in Computer Science or related degree
•Experience deploying images in a systems environment.
•Microsoft Certified
• Experience working with MAC computers.
•Experience working with a diverse population in a higher education environment
•Experience identifying and resolving problems that occur in a classroom setting

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Proven ability to provide technical support to desktop computers, peripherals, and the technology installed in classrooms.
•Demonstrated bility to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software problems with PC’s and laptops.
•Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical personnel.
•Proven ability to plan and complete technical tasks with minimal supervision.
•Ability to lift 50 pounds.
•Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
