The position of Research Associate Professor in The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis/Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation requires a Ph.D and/or M.D. degree. Applicants at the Research Associate Professor level should have completed a program of post-doctoral training.

A significant record of academic accomplishment and the potential to attract independent research funding are important considerations for this position. The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a significant research program funded by extramural sources and establish a track-record of publishing in major, peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will need to pursue clinical research focused on developing and testing novel strategies to improve functional outcomes following neurological trauma and disease. Research Associate Professor is expected to independently design, plan and execute research experiments; write and prepare manuscripts based on research findings and analysis; and submit proposals for extramural funding. The Research Associate Professor will also serve as a Co-PI on current grants. The Research Associate Professor will interact cross-functionally; establish key collaborations, both internally and externally, in order to deliver objectives.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute the teaching and service activities of the university in a manner consistent with the University of Miami Faculty Manual.

The successful applicant will be a member of this interdisciplinary Center of Excellence with access to numerous state-of-the-art core facilities. The candidate should have a strong interest in pursuing research related to reparative strategies for brain or spinal cord injury. Investigators using cell based therapies and other novel methods of protecting and promoting functional recovery in animal and/or human models of CNS injury are of particular interest but other approaches are also encouraged.
