This position will assist the Dean in developing new strategic initiatives in education and scholarship. It is modeled after those held by academic program managers in federally sponsored research centers, and in some academic departments, but encompasses the additional complexity of being required to develop a significantly broader network of sponsors from agencies and other external organizations, in addition to academic institutions. Another element of this position will be translating the interests of these various partners and stakeholders into outreach, research and learning activities that engage Social Welfare faculty and students. This position supports the development of a range of scholarly and educational initiatives emphasizing leadership, including undergraduate and graduate courses, certificate programs, a range of professional education options including executive education as well as new domains for inter-professional knowledge building.

This position will conceptualize and develop learning materials and curricula, design leadership and mentoring programs, serve as a technical expert in certain educational aspects of research grant writing, provide information dissemination structures, and establish broad community connections and develop revenue streams. The expectation is that this position will generate a minimum of $450,000 net revenue by year three with a steady increase thereafter. Should this position result in overall staff growth, the expectation is that net revenues will continue to amount to at least 150% of the salaries and benefits for that staff growth. These activities will target undergraduate and graduate students, university faculty, and researchers in both local and state government and nonprofits to address the community needs in social welfare research and practice. This position will also track the performance of the School's education and outreach program through common metrics.

This position will report to the Dean of Social Welfare. The Assistant Dean will manage significant, interdependent academic and research-based programs.
