Description

The IT Support Specialist providestechnical support to Auxiliary Services users as reported through the Help Desksystem, emails and/or phone calls. Diagnoses, resolves and follows through onwork orders. Configures, installs and administers new hardware (desktops,printers, tablets, and peripherals) and software as needed. The departmentsupports Windows desktops/laptops, MACs, iPads/Android tablets, Servers, andPrinters. Provides assistance to other IT positions within the University;hardware and software support for Auxiliary Services applications. Thisincludes installing upgrades/updates as well as assisting in backup andrestoration of data. Adds/Deletes/Modifies user and affiliate accounts as wellas group accounts within Auxiliary Services’ organizational unit. SupportsFileMaker, Returnity, QuickBooks, Neopost, and departmental SharePointapplications. Also, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Onecardsystem, POS registers, and ID systems.



Qualifications

High school diploma orequivalent and three years of experience with the various types ofhardware and software to be supported, two years of which includes usersupport, user training, and/or programming. Thoroughknowledge of applicable computer hardware or software. Skill in operatingsupported computers and peripherals; in configuring computer hardware andsoftware; to analytically design program logic or solve technical problems.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to workeffectively with clients; and providing guidance and instruction to others.

 Except for qualifications established by law, additionalrelated experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge,skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the jobclass may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on ayear-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year ofexperience.
