The honors student worker is a position that is mainly designed to 1) provide peer-mentoring for honors students and 2) serve in an administrative support capacity for the honors program.

Specific Duties

The student(s) hired for this position will serve as a peer mentor for all incoming and continuing honors students. This requires being available for regular office hours and answering student emails. The student(s) hired will also schedule various activities such as meetings and/or lunches with honors freshmen prior to spring registration as well as other honors activities throughout the duration of the academic year. The hired student(s) will work in the Honors Center, maintaining basic decorum, keeping the coffee maker and refrigerator clean, distributing paper for copying, and other small administrative tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

All honors student workers will be a current member of the honors program. They will also maintain a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
