The center operates on a 24/7 basis, so the hours scheduled will vary depending on the needs of the department.

While on shift this position will:

Monitor and maintain the state leased transponder operation located at WFSU. Performs satellite uplinks/downlinks for various entities.

Maintain 24/7 satellite uplink/downlink for the Florida Channel including source and return processing and monitoring, troubleshooting, and redundancy testing.

Perform 24/7 various public and private entity satellite uplink/downlinks including Emergency Operations and the Florida lottery.

Perform weekly uplink/downlinks for regional PBS content on PBS satellite transponders.

Insure maintenance of all associated satellite uplink/downlink gear and the various source and transmission paths, including WFSU/FM NPR C-Band uplinks. Maintain all IP LANS associated with satellite operations and State of Florida backup satellite uplink facility in Tampa.

Control and monitor 24/7 all access to Satellite transponder SES2 Ku band, Transponder 18 (36 MHz) which include 8 slots for third party lease, and keep accurate logs of all access and clearance times of these slots.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency.

Must have the ability to interpret complex written specifications and conditions.

Must have a flexible work schedule.

Must have the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Must have the ability to work independently with minimal to no supervision.Anticipated Salary Range This position is part-time, between 10-16 hours per week. The expected pay rate for this position is $10/hr.Pay Plan This is an OPS/temporary Job.Schedule This position will serve as a floater/fill in for open shifts.
