Position Summary

Basic Function

Manage and assist in planning and modification of procedures for FSAO [Fee-for Service Activities Office]; oversee the renewal of existing and establishment of new billing rates within the department; oversee and assist in the operational activities of the unit including budget, staff and program. Compile and analyze information and produce reports for the department on FSAO activities. Pre and post award administrator activities including proposal documents and reconciliation.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Develop procedures, objectives, and policies for the day-to-day operations of the FSAO Office. 20%

Create budget documentation and collect information for internal purposes in order to assist in the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of fee-for service activities, funding and reconciliation. 20%

Consult: 1) the MSU Controllers Office in ensuring that all fee-for-service rates are established following MSU Policy and Procedures. Ensure fee-for-service setup and activation; 2) between Program Directors and Administrators on fee-for-service activities. 15%

Consult with faculty/staff to gain a full understanding of all costs (direct and indirect expenditures) involved in a particular fee-for-service testing process. 30%

Coordinate and communicate with involved researchers on billing procedures including processing proposal documents for pre-awards and follow-up on post-award invoicing. 15%

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business related field or Information Systems, one to three years of financial experience in balancing and reconciliation and data modeling/compiling for analysis; or a combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working in EBS, especially creating and running queries in Business Intelligence & Analytics. Knowledge of MSU pre and post awards administration.
