DescriptionPositionOverview:

The Advisorprovides student advising services for the Online/Distance RN-BS CompletionTrack in the School of Nursing at Boise State University.

 Position isa 12 month professional position reporting to the Nursing Business ProgramManager.

 Duties andResponsibilities: 

Academicadvising duties as assigned for prospective, currently enrolled and inactivestudents in a distance/online format as well as in person [95%]

  • Directs students in developing their plans of study
  • Coordinates with university processes for new student registration and orientation
  • Preparation of transfer student documents (academic adjustments, credit for prior learning, graduation)
  • Responsible for sending out select student group emails for communicating advising and program information
  • Stays current related to advising  and student support knowledge
  • Attends committee meetings as required
  • Proactively reviews student records on a semester basis communicating progress and “to do” items as needed to the student.
  • Otherresponsibilities as assigned [5%]

     Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of professional experience
  • 1 year of experience in higher education preferably in student services.
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience
  •  Thesuccessful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills andabilities:

  • Exhibits a strong customer service philosophy.
  • Strong ability to work in a collaborative manner in a team environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and technical communication skills enabling the person in this position to work with a wide range of students and colleagues. 
  • Effective time management skills enabling task prioritization, time usage, and multi-tasking.
  • Familiarity with selected software programs to facilitate services for students and task completion.
  • Exhibits a desire for continued program improvement.
  • Interest, experience, and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity
