Job Purpose: Provide unit level support in the installation, operation and maintenance of computer systems. Position typically addresses issues of moderate complexity, receiving general instructions on routine work and more specific direction on new assignments.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain and upgrade workstation and peripheral hardware and software.
  • Respond to and resolve workstation, application and server related problems.
  • Update desktop software/applications; maintain documentation on installed applications.
  • Provide users with assistance in working in specific applications.
  • Maintain/troubleshoot office related equipment and applications such as copiers, fax machines, printers, building access system and email accounts..
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work Experience: Zero to two years job related experience
  • Certifications:
  • Skills: This job requires a working knowledge of and skill in the installation and maintenance of information technology hardware and software, both centrally supported and specific to an assigned campus unit. Included are skills in problem solving, customer service, system documentation and communications.



Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: N/A
  • Preferred Work Experience: Upto two years job related experience.
  • Preferred Certifications: A+,Network+, MCP, ACMT, HDI Desktop Support Technician
  • Preferred Skills: Experience supporting multiple desktop computers (Windows8.1 and 10, macOS, Citrix VDI) in a multi-user environment.

    Experience with desktop software imaging/deployment solutions such as SCCM,MDT, and Jamf. Experience with Office365. Experience with Pharos Uniprint 9.0or a similar enterprise level print management system. Experience withscripting languages such as PowerShell, shell scripting, etc. Experienceproviding technology support in a higher education setting including supportfor students, faculty and staff. Ability to work independently and remainproactive. Experience providing excellent customer service includingaccountability and strong work ethic. Experience creating and maintainingknowledge articles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information:

This position will be one ofthree IT Support Professional I staff in the department providing support in a24/7 environment. Initial shift for training purposes will be Monday – Friday, 10am – 7 pm and will then transfer to the third shift, Sunday - Thursday, 11 pm -7 am.


Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: users within assigned unit which can include management, faculty and staff personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.
