Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology or Microbiology is preferred

Position Summary:

This new position will assist in research on food-borne pathogens (specifically viral pathogens) as relates to their contamination in food and the environment. It will train and supervise visiting scholars and students and assist with the preparation of research presentations, slides and posters, scientific manuscripts, reports and summaries, etc. It will process and analyze data, coordinate research activities, and maintain lab and chemical inventories, records, protocols and databases.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Knowledge of how to analyze data, draw conclusions and summarize results. Knowledge of how to design, manage and carry out highly complex research projects. Competency in writing publications.

Physical Demands:

Lift 25 lbs. Sit or stand in laboratory setting and/or at a desk for extended periods of time.

Maintain cell cultures and perform cell culture-and molecular- based bioassays; study foodborne pathogens (specifically viral pathogens) contamination in food and the environment.

Test, evaluate and maintain current lab procedures and protocols, prepare for inspections; train and supervise visiting scholars and students in lab assays, instrument usage and data analysis.
