    Supports the function and overall operation of the Student Retention and Transition Services including the Advisement and Career Services and ACCESS/Disability Services Prepares payroll for part-time and full-time staffAnswers phone calls and provides information for students including procedures related to the appeals process, advisement, and registrationSupervises the reception area and ensures delivery of excellent customer service from staff and student assistants while keeping them apprised of new program developments and eventsCreates and maintains correspondence and suppliesMaintains correspondence and suppliesAssists and prepares budget reports and reimbursements and handles confidential informationPrepares department requisitions, disbursements, and duplication requestsMaintains maintenance contracts on copy machine and all printers in departmentAssists Director with various tasks, including setting up special campus eventsCommunicates with academic and student services departments regarding the area services and special eventsGreets and provides information to students in person and on the telephoneAssists with the hiring process of personnelInteracts with other College departments and outside agencies regarding assigned functions

  • Associates degree and two (2) years of successful secretarial/clerical experience in an office setting; or three (3) years of advanced clerical work, including or supplemented by courses in secretarial training or Business courses in high school or college; or a combination of experience and training
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresProficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsPossess good oral and written communication skillsAbility to work independently, resolve problems and make decisions Ability to perform multiple tasks and organize prioritiesAbility to pass an MDC Clerical Skills Assessment requiring a minimum typing speed of 40 wpmKnowledge of the principles of office management and supervision and ability to apply this knowledge to work problemsKnowledge of pertinent College policies and proceduresAbility to deal with other people with tact, poise, patience and courtesy Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Ability to keep complex records and prepare periodic reports from such records Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
