JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development and management of non-credit workforce courses and training programs in the fields of information technology, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies/industries (Drone Technology, Coding, e.g.), as assigned. It reports to the Senior Director, Career & Continuing Professional Education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assesses the needs, designs, develops (in concert with subject matter experts) and implements new programs that lead to career development, licensure and/or certification within the following sectors: technology, advanced manufacturing, and other emerging technologies/industries. Uses data driven analysis, forecasts, and research to identify trends and certification/license requirements to expand educational programming and meet local needs.
  • Meets annual FTE and revenue goals for the assigned programs areas.
  • Coordinates and schedules new and existing career and continuing professional education programs for assigned industry sectors. Makes recommendations to the Senior Director any revisions in programming that will enhance the programs quality or financial viability.
  • Coordinates with Student Support Services to assist navigating students seamlessly from initial contact through completion.
  • Continually recruits and selects quality adjunct faculty.  Upon hire, coordinates and provides initial instructor orientation, on-going professional development and consistent communications.
  • Assists in maintaining current instructor records in accordance with standards of certifying body and the College.
  • Prepares documentation for reporting to certifying bodies and/or Maryland Higher Education Commission.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Academic College community in parallel career areas to actively pursue cooperative efforts.
  • Conducts outreach, sales, and marketing of assigned programs.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships with professional associations, business, government, and community organizations to expand educational programming and meet local needs. 
  • Oversees all the activities as described in current Educational Partnership Agreements.
  • Serves on both internal and external boards and committees as assigned.  Recruits members and maintains Program Advisory Boards as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Three or more years of combined experience in information technology and education.
  • Broad knowledge of information technology, advanced manufacturing and/or emerging technologies preferred.
  • Experience developing training programs.
  • May involve working occasional evenings or weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety

precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms; use of safe

work place practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with highly technical applications; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and observance of traffic laws when/if driving college vehicles.

 

SALARY:

This position will be placed on the 12 month, Grade 11 college salary scale. Actual salary placement is based on education and experience. Position includes excellent fringe benefit package.
