Job Description: Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.


The University of South Carolina Upstate invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of History beginning August 16, 2020. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in medieval/early modern Europe and digital history. The ideal candidate will have college-level teaching experience and will be able to teach pre-modern European women’s/gender history. Preference will also be given to those with teaching experience. The successful applicant will be required to teach survey courses in World history, upper-level courses in their area(s) of specialization and contribute to an emerging program in digital history. Faculty typically teach four courses each semester, with expectations of strong teaching, a sustained research agenda, and service responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in History with specialization in medieval and/or early modern European history and ability to teach in both fields; qualification to teach undergraduate history courses. Successful background check is required.
