Position Summary

Oversees the administrative and operational activities of The Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences in the College of Human Medicine; assists in financial planning including budget development, contract management, post-award research support, facilities and human resources management; provides administrative support to the Director and faculty, staff and students and interprets and/or implements university policies and procedures.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Access); strong organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills; experience in financial management including planning, forecasting and budgeting; knowledge and understanding of financial and accounting principles and standards; experience using university systems and creating and generating reports; ability to professionally articulate verbal and written communications; customer service skills with the ability to interact with faculty, staff, administrators, students and external constituents; demonstrated organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously; must be self-starter with good decision-making skills.
