The Payroll Analyst 3 provides analytical support to the payroll operations team for all payroll review and any issues identified during the preliminary and post payroll processes, and for strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include the development and modification of payroll validation reports, operation metrics, and dashboard(s). Role is also responsible for identifying opportunities for overall improvement of efficiency and accuracy of the payroll review process.

Core Job Functions

1. Assists with bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing responsibilities during the pre and post process by providing payroll validation reports and comparing large data sets in order to identify variances and pay issues that require resolution.
2. Resolves payroll system error messages related to on and off cycle payroll processing.
3. Performs payroll gross to net calculations for wages, overtime, manual checks including the impact of taxable benefits, pre and post-tax deductions.
4. Completes complex data analytics and mining in support of payroll completion process and strategic initiatives.
5. Develops and maintains payroll dashboard(s).
6. Assists with the development of operation metrics.
7. Monitors and analyzes operations performance as compared to developed metrics.
8. Identifies areas of opportunity and recommends solutions for achieving optimal efficiency and accuracy of all payroll processes and responsibilities.
9. Provides reporting and analytical support for strategic decisions and initiatives.
10. Obtains a thorough understanding of payroll and benefit polices.
11. Stays abreast of state and federal labor, tax and garnishment laws.
12. Provides exceptional customer service and follows through on all issues and inquiries received in a timely and accurate manner. Addresses concerns or inquiries related to advanced data analytics.
13. Ensures adherence to departmental standards and controls.
14. Assists with ad hoc payroll projects.
15. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
