Current undergraduate students who have completed 90+ credit hours, graduate
students, or post-doctoral scholars.

ShiftThe commitment is 10 hours per week to be worked
during business hours of Mon-Fri 8a-5p.
Typical projects may include, dependent upon educational
background and career motivation:
• Conducting scientific, market, prior art, and patent search and analysis
• Assessing t he commercial viability of new inventions through market research and competitive analysis
• Identifying potential licensees or inventors
• Developing marketing materials
• Assisting with the management of a patent docket, including creating useful patent data and analytics for the office
• Collecting royalty rate research and developing preliminary valuation models
• Assisting in the review of agreements for contract management and organization
Applicants with a clinical, scientific, technical, business or law background are

Research
In fiscal year 2016, the University of Kentucky was awarded $316.5 million in external grants and contracts. UK is one of only eight universities across the country with the full range of undergraduate, graduate, professional and medical programs on one contiguous campus, leading to groundbreaking discoveries and unique cross-disciplinary research and scholarship. Moreover, UK is currently one of only 22 public institutions with a trifecta of federal designations of excellence in research: for aging, in cancer and in translational science. A new $265 million research facility, due to open in 2018, will bring together clinicians, scientists and scholars from across UK’s campus to reduce health gaps in Kentucky.
