Description

The Director, Adjunct Faculty is responsible for assisting the Academic Deans, support staff, and human resources with recruitment of new adjunct instructors, coordinating, implementing and maintaining optimal class scheduling, management of adjunct staffing and assimilation, performance observations and evaluations of adjunct faculty, training of new adjunct instructors on college procedures and policies, and coordination of labor between both the Gloucester and Cumberland campuses. This will include classroom observations of adjunct faculty and mentoring adjunct instructors on classroom management and pedagogical strategies.

Travel will be required, as this position will work on both the Gloucester and Cumberland campuses.

Examples of Duties

  1. Works with Human Resources to recruit new Adjunct Instructors to both the Gloucester and Cumberland campuses.
  2. Assists Academic Deans and support staff in the hiring and training processes for new Adjunct Instructors.
  3. Provides administrative classroom observations of Adjunct Faculty and supports pedagogical training initiatives.
  4. Coordinates the Academic Deans and support staff in the scheduling and staffing of classes across both campuses.
  5. Assists with the coordination and implementation of events involving Adjunct Faculty including, but not limited to, Adjunct Orientation.
  6. Maintains the Adjunct Handbook for Adjunct Faculty, in conjunction with Academic Services and Student Services.
  7. Works with Adjunct Instructors to refer them to the correct departments within the college.
  8. Mentors new Adjunct Faculty in classroom management and pedagogical techniques.
  9. Develops Adjunct Faculty training sessions geared toward student instruction and engagement.
  10. Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master degree in Education or a Master's Degree in a related field required, Ph.D or Ed.D. preferred.
  • Previous experience in scheduling of classes
  • Previous experience in instructor observation and evaluation
  • Previous experience in instructor mentoring
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Excellent PC skills, including mastery of all Microsoft Applications, e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of a comprehensive community college philosophy and a student-centered learning environment
  • Commitment to the community college mission including addressing the needs of a diverse student population
