Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

CNNC advances the capacity of immigrants and refugees by building bridges between immigrant populations and existing communities throughout NC via community-based outreach and advocacy, educational programming, research and evaluation, immigrant and refugee leadership development, cultural brokering, and educational opportunities for faculty and students.

Position Summary

The Center for New North Carolinians (CNNC) is committed to advancing the capacity of immigrants and refugees by building bridges between immigrant populations and existing communities throughout the state of North Carolina. This is done via community-based outreach and advocacy, educational programming, research and evaluation, immigrant and refugee leadership development, cultural brokering, and educational opportunities for faculty and students. This position will manage grants and provide research and input to meet the goals of assisting immigrants and refugee populations thorough community-based outreach, advocacy, and programming.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Master’s degree in Social Sciences or Global Studies, or BS with two years experience, in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area for assignment.

Candidates must have professional experience in working with immigrant populations and demonstrated experience of leadership skills necessary to manage and supervise AmeriCorps members, program staff, interns and volunteers as well as a culturally diverse environment.

Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish (written and oral).

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally and pleasantly with individuals from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and education levels.

Ability to work independently, solve problems creatively, and seek resources to solve problems as needed.

Ability to organize tasks and time and assist others in organizing tasks and time.

Ability to work as part of a team and to lead a team.

Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher.
