The Painter performs skilled work in preparing surfaces for painting and in applying all types of paint to machinery, equipment, furniture, interiors and exteriors of buildings by brush or spray gun. Also performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance and repair of structures, equipment and articles of a similar material.
Essential Duties SummaryDisassembles and reassembles furniture and cabinets so that painting spaces can be accomplished. Paints and stripes the university football field utilizing accurate measurements for end zones, hash marks and log’s according to NCAA regulations. Prior to paint preservations, repairs and replaces damaged sections of walls, doors and frames utilizing carpentry methods before priming. Contributes to the repair and PM’s of all painting equipment and tools. Paints all various heights that require the installation and removal of scaffolding and wearing of safety harnesses. Assists the carpenters with hanging of sheetrock materials for structuring walls. Organizes and supervises dismantling of a NCAA Arena Gymnasium floor for various special events: i.e. basketball, concerts and graduations. Coordinates manually mixing textures of various paints for correct colors of items to be painted interior and exterior. Plans and estimates cost analysis of materials to be utilized. Works various schedules to enable faculty and staff to continue operations throughout the campus for new construction of buildings on campus; preservation and upkeeps. Removes striping, handicap and no parking decals from parking lots using high pressure sanding machines. Measures and sizes parking spaces throughout the campus for new construction of buildings on campus; and preservations for the entire university. Removes old finishes of paint and varnish. Resurfaces, stains and varnishes exterior/interior furniture and appliances for the entire campus. Draft, layout and design templates for decals, occupational titles and diagrams utilizing stencil machines consisting of wood, plexi-glass, and sheet metal type of materials. Assists the carpenters with the installation and removal of ceiling tiles and sheetrock for preservation of buildings being remodeled and refurbished.
