Assistant Professor of Instruction, Non-Tenure Track Appointment for One-Year Term

The Printmaking program invites applications for a one year, non-tenure track, full-time position teaching all forms of printmaking including screen printing, etching, relief, lithography, monoprint and incorporating digital/new media into the printmaking experience. We seek a print artist with a broad knowledge of historical and contemporary art practices, as well as a thorough understanding of technical, critical, and theoretical issues of the medium. The successful applicant will have the demonstrated ability to effectively teach and mentor students with a broad range of experience levels within our BFA and MFA programs, fostering ways to think expansively and critically about print.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Head to assist in the various tasks associated with running a large and comprehensive program within a thriving school of art and architecture. Applicants should have a broad range of technical abilities that complement their creative, conceptual, and intellectual interests.

Since 1935, Tyler School of Art and Architecture has offered students instruction from a world-renowned faculty combined with the resources of Temple University, a large, urban research institution. Tyler’s programs encompass a wide range of areas in the study of art, design, art history, art education, and architecture. In each program, students work in small learning communities, while also benefiting from state-of-the-art facilities, a rigorous curriculum, and a large, diverse campus community.

RANK: Assistant Professor

This position is a full-time, non-tenure track position with a one-year appointment beginning fall semester, 2020. The teaching load is 3 courses in one semester and 4 in the other (3-4).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have an MFA or equivalent, professional exhibition record, and an ability to communicate and work effectively, collegially, and collaboratively with students, faculty and administrators. A minimum of three years of full time college-level teaching experience, or the equivalent, is preferred.
