The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for multiple, full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a research focus in the areas of Polymers or Electronic Materials in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Particular interest are in the areas of Synthesis and/or Data Science. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is implementing a major expansion of faculty and state-of-the-art research and education facilities. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering provides a vibrant, multidisciplinary, and highly collaborative environment, and is consistently ranked among the top departments for both graduate and undergraduate programs. This department is among the largest MSE departments in the nation, with 39 faculty members, over 200 graduate students, and more than 300 undergraduates. Research is central to the success of the program, and new faculty will be expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs. 

The department provides an integrated MSE education addressing a wide array of materials (functional materials, quantum materials, biomaterials, structural materials, etc.) for a diverse set of applications, including energy technologies, optoelectronic and photonic devices, materials for medical applications, materials for green technologies, and more. New faculty will be expected to continue the tradition of both developing and teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Qualifications:

Eligible applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field. Postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
