Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Maintenance Specialist II provides skilled maintenance, repairs and construction services to facilities and equipment at multiple at Lone Star College campuses. Also ensures staff, faculty and students have access to offices, classrooms and lab rooms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Perform preventive, corrective and general maintenance services including installation, removal, repair of carpentry, drywall, painting, moving furniture, event setup and take down, operation of mechanical equipment, electrical, fire alarm systems, plumbing systems and full locksmith servicesRecord and maintain daily maintenance activities work log and produce periodic reportsMaintain inventory and submit requisitions for materials, parts and equipment to ensure appropriate stock levelsAdhere to all college, state and federal safety guidelines on a daily basisPerform periodic and routine maintenance of vehicles including state inspections, repairs and vehicle equipment at multiple campus locationsMaintain workshop and mechanical areas in safe and orderly stateEnsure all tools and equipment are stored in its appropriate place/locationProvide Locksmith services and repairs (make, issue & secure campus keys) as needed and requested to all locks of doors, desks, filling cabinets and any object requiring a keyResponsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong attention to detailAbility to work on multiple projectsAbility to use software productsMust be able to understand and follow directions given orally and in writing, and must be able to read and understand blue prints

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion, such as frequent climbing of tall ladders, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment; gas and electric powered tools and equipment typical in the maintenance industry, including but not limited to power tools, vacuum devices, saws, drills, and vehiclesInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed inside and outdoors with exposure to normal atmospheric conditions, dirt, dust, weather variables, etc.Potential risks exist due to handling power tools, equipment, and chemicals and work requires safety precautions at all times

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary

Hiring Salary is: $27,910
