The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the full time position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Responsibilities will include: assisting the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning with the development and administration of the strength and conditioning programs for the UConn football program and other teams assigned by the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning; strict compliance with NCAA regulations and policies of the University and the American Athletic Conference; assistance with practice and game-day duties including pre-game/practice warm-ups; collaboration with Athletic Training staff as to the monitoring and rehabilitation of student-athletes with injuries; responsible for managing Catapult and Polar systems, interpreting data and designing daily reports for staff; assistance with communication of strength program organization to prospective student-athletes and parents; and assist with supervisory responsibility of strength and conditioning interns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree or working towards completion of degree; two years of experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the collegiate level or experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the professional level; Certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), CPR/First Aid certification; demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations; has prior experience with teaching the power lifts, the Olympic lifts and the various forms of periodization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of Strength and Conditioning Coaching experience at an FBS institution. Has designed and implemented a strength and conditioning program for a collegiate or professional team; USA weightlifting certification (USAW), Functional Movement Screen (FMS) certified, Certified Speed Specialist (CSS). Has prior experience with load monitoring GPS wearable technology (Catapult) and heart rate monitoring systems (Polar). Ability to track and interpret sports science data and design daily reports for the staff.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is an 11 month appointment subject to annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
