The Brown Estate - Part Time Staff

Responsibilities:

The part time staff at The Brown Estate reports to the Manager of The Brown Estate and is responsible for assisting with kitchen preparation, catering setup and preparation, and bar setup before all events. Duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.Perform work in the assigned area during an event (assigned areas include wait staff, dining room staff, and/or bartending).
a.Wait Staff – serve guests, clean spills, replenish stations, bus tables, assist in cake cutting
b.Dining Room Staff – replenish buffet, clean spills, pull line at appropriate times, and begin washing dishes.
c.Bartending Staff – serve drinks, monitor guests, replenish bar as necessary.

2.Employee will assist the Dining Room Host and Kitchen Staff with clean up after events including but not limited to the following duties;
a.Bus all dishes to kitchen and/or butler’s pantry
b.Bus all silverware and dining room chafers and trays to kitchen
c.Assist with washing dishes, drying dishes, and putting dishes up in appropriate area
d.Assist with washing kitchen pots, silver, and/or chafers and put up in appropriate area
e.Remove all dirty linens and take to the laundry room
f.Gather alcohol to send with guests and clean bar area
g.Remove all garbage from the house and/or kitchen and bring to the garbage cans in the garage and/or take to dumpster
h.Sweep and mop floors
i.Vacuum rugs
j.Wipe off interior house tables
k.Clean and disinfect bathrooms
l.Clean and/or sweep front porch
m.Reset area for following event if necessary by removing or rearranging tables and serving areas

3.On days when there is not an event going on, employee will perform the following duties;
a.Minor repair projects
b.General house cleaning and quarterly heavy house cleaning
c.Holiday decorating
d.Setup or preparation for next event
e.Office and/or outdoor projects

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent is required; minimum of one year of directly related work experience preferred.

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to communicate courteously and effectively with faculty, staff, and clientele.

Must possess the ability to read and understand, or to listen to and act upon written and oral instructions. Must possess the ability to follow college policies and procedures.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and clientele. Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and pay attention to details.

This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.
