Job Description:

DUTIES:

1. Student facing position that provides customer service at the Financial Aid counter, through email and over the phone to students, families, and other campus professionals relating to financial aid application procedures, available resources, eligibility guidelines, regulations, loans, and special circumstances;
2. Assists financial aid applicants with the completion of paper and electronic financial aid forms, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, loan entrance counseling and Master Promissory notes;
3. Assists with the data entry of application documents according to office policies and procedures;
4. Works on projects related to awarding, disbursing and reconciliation of funds;
5. Participates in occasional financial aid workshops and special events;
6. Assist with other clerical duties as assigned by office staff;
7. Must work well independently as they may be the only staff member in the office after 4:30 pm

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide customer service in a friendly and professional manner; ability to work independently and as a team member; ability to deal tactfully with people and exercise discretion with confidential information; explain and apply financial aid rules, laws, policies and procedures clearly; ability to work in a fast-paced environment during peak enrollment periods; strong decision-making ability with attention to detail; demonstrated ability to give and follow written and oral instructions; ability to problem solve and juggle multiple projects; well organized; ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff and student body; ability to coordinate with other College offices as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years full-time customer service experience; Microsoft Word and Excel; Bilingual (Spanish/English).

COMPENSATION: $16 per hour, non-benefited

HOURS: Up to 18.5 hours per week including 4 evenings, Monday through Thursday until 6:00 p.m.
