The Department of Nutritional Science and Toxicology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks two (2) Postdoctoral Scholars to join an interdisciplinary research team study and to work under the supervision of Dr. Veerle Rottiers and Professor Anders Naar, in the area of metabolism and aging, at 100% time with an expected start of Fall 2019.
Two Postdoctoral positions are available in the labs of Dr. Veerle Rottiers and Professor Anders Naar in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology. These projects are funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health.
The following areas of specialization are sought:
C. Elegans:
This position is focused on exploring the genetics, genomics, molecular biology and biochemistry of sex specific differences in lifespan in C. elegans.
MTCH2:
This position aims to understand the mechanism of action of the human obesity associated gene, MTCH2/mtch-1, which is a conserved regulator of lipid homeostasis. This project involves the use of mammalian cell culture, mice and C. elegans.
We are looking for postdoctoral candidates to support and conduct the research on this project, analyze data, participate in and present results at lab meetings and in discussions with the PI, mentor undergraduate students as well as write manuscripts.

Appointment:
These positions report to Dr. Rottiers and Professor Naar. The initial appointment will be at 100% time for one year with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
