Primary Purpose of Position

Manages the PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance program for the University. Oversees and enables all University related payment card functions and ensures compliance with industry, state, and University standards, policies, and requirements.

This position is the primary liaison to the Office of the State Controller, PCI contracted services providers, payment gateways, acquiring bank and processor, ITS, and the various departments within the University. Supervise the eCommerce Office.

Minimum Education/Experience

Graduation from a four year college or university and at least four years of program associate experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties

- Serves as the program expert in University payment card operations (e.g., eCommerce systems, payment applications, business processes, PCI standards and requirements, federal, state, and industry policies and requirements).
- Provides guidance and expertise to campus merchants. Uses expertise to analyze departmental operational needs to provide compliant solutions to achieve strategic goals and improve related processes or recommend system modifications as needed.
- Works to improve card processing operations on an ongoing basis, and to respond to changing needs and technologies.
- Maintains positive working relationships with all key eCommerce stakeholders. Works in conjunction with ITS (Information Technology Services) to oversee payment card system security.
- Reviews and amends contracts related to card processing to ensure accuracy in language and regulatory compliance.
- Drives PCI DSS annual validation process and ensures it is completed accurately and on time.
- Provides/creates written documentation, instruction materials, and recommendation documents to merchants and/or management related to eCommerce activities, products, and needs. Develops, conducts, and facilitates training programs and materials to meet organizational training requirements and provide departments with PCI and business process knowledge. Indirectly supervises eCommerce activity across all campus merchants and provides training and coaching to related staff.
- Defines and implements various campus-wide systems for payment card transaction processing, validates compliance in conjunction with ITS-Security for that processing, and revises University eCommerce policies and procedures as needed.
- Deciphers complex payment processes and works to correct errors. Analyzes software applications for their functionality and system requirements. Tracks and analyzes merchant sales and trends.
- Structures, develops, and guides the eCommerce Office. Develops and maintains a unit that is capable of evaluating, analyzing, and responding to constantly changing processes, standards, and technologies. Backup the eCommerce Administrator, as needed, creating/editing online storefronts and implementing third party integrations. Maintains process documentation and compliance timelines.
