The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at Illinois State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Business Education professor position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin August 16, 2020.  Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. degree in Education or Ed. D., preferably from a CAEP accredited school of education, or a Ph.D. or D.B.A degree from an AACSB accredited business school by the position start date.  A.B.D.’s will be considered.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.  Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and experience.

We seek candidates who are highly qualified and motivated to teach Business Education courses (e.g. foundations of business education, consumer economics, business communication, and business education methods) as well as other courses to support the Business Education program as necessary.  The successful candidate will engage in course design and curriculum development that incorporates critical thinking and experiential learning and produces high levels of student engagement.  The successful candidate will develop a scholarly research record as evidenced by publications in high quality journals, work collaboratively as a contributing member of a faculty team, and have a strong interest in administrative coordination of the Business Education program  

 Preferably, the successful candidate will hold or qualify for a State of Illinois secondary teaching license with an endorsement in Business, Marketing, and Computer Education and have K-12 teaching experience in a Business Education classroom.  In addition, we prefer that the successful candidate has training or teaching experience with students from a variety of backgrounds (e.g., special needs, English Language Learners, students-at-risk).  This position requires the faculty member to engage in clinical supervision of pre-service business teachers in Illinois public schools.

 The Business Education major at Illinois State University combines the solid foundation of a business degree with preparation of teachers in business, marketing and computers. It is the only program in Illinois approved by the Illinois State Board of Education and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) to offer a degree program that qualifies graduates for a K-12 Professional Education License in Business, Marketing, and Computer Education.  The Business Education major offers a Business Teacher Education sequence, as well as a Training and Development sequence that prepares graduates to work as trainers in business organizations.  The program also offers a Master of Science in Business Education.  To learn more about the Business Education program, go to https://business.illinoisstate.edu/be/.

The Department of Marketing and Business Education major are positioned within the College of Business, which has undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.  U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Illinois State University among the top 100 public universities in the nation, and the College of Business was ranked one of the Best Undergraduate Business Schools by Bloomberg Businessweek.  The business school is housed in the 118,000 square foot, state-of-the-art State Farm Hall of Business.  In addition to the Business Education bachelor and master’s degrees, the Department offers a Marketing degree with sequences in Professional Sales, Integrated Marketing Communication, Advanced Marketing Analytics and Strategic Marketing to over 860 undergraduate students, and marketing courses to a full complement of Master’s level students as part of the M.B.A. program.  The Department includes twenty-one full-time faculty (18 Ph.D.’s/D.B.A.’s), six of whom have joined the Department within the last four years.
