Preferred Qualifications

Research and experience in applied Entomology and/or disease management. Experience with laboratory and field research equipment is highly desired.

Position Summary

This new position will provide routine support to the Principal Investigator, graduate students and/or post-doctoral scientist with lab, greenhouse, and field research associated with the vector biology program headquartered at the Griffin Campus. This position will expect the incumbent to assist with general upkeep of the laboratories, greenhouses, and vehicles. The Research Professional is expected to travel back and forth to field sites in other locations such as Tifton & Attapulgus, GA, and potentially others, to conduct research. The Research Professional will also have the opportunity to provide inputs into ongoing an new research projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The incumbent will work independently and conduct field and laboratory research. The incumbent will be expected to travel including overnight travel.

Physical Demands

Plant and care for plants in field situation essential. Lift 50 lbs. Handle different weather environments, from extreme heat to cooler temperatures; and able to bend for long periods.

Field, laboratory, and greenhouse research which includes manual labor, equipment operations and data collection. Facilitate ongoing research maintaining lab supplies and updating chemical inventory through the UGA online platform – Chematix.

Supervise, coordinate with activities, students, and part-time personnel in accomplish design, establishment, data collection and analysis of results from field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments.
