The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery is looking for Physician Assistant as a mid-level provider. The Physician Assistant will provide outpatient and/or inpatient services in collaboration with a range of professionals, including cardiologists, critical care physicians, other mid-level providers, and social workers. Essential Functions

• Working with a designated supervisor, assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients in various areas of Cardiac Surgery.
• Characteristic Duties
• Collect comprehensive histories of new patients.
• Conduct basic physical and psychosocial assessments of individuals and/or families. Work with physicians and other providers in delivery of care.
• Manage common episodic and chronic illnesses and administer medication and treatments as prescribed; obtain treatment consents as needed.
• Assist with surgery- to include endoscopic saphenous vein and radial artery procurement for cardiac surgery.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Participate in research activities.
• Order supplies as necessary; stock and maintain rooms as required.
• Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (e.g., performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off).
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant:

Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants with Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in a surgical emphasis. Current/Valid license in the state of Ohio prior to start.
