The Laboratory Assistant will work in the Lewis Katz School ofMedicine’s Departments of Physiology, Thoracic Medicine and Surgery and Centerfor Inflammation, Translational and Clinical Lung Research, focusing oninnovative strategies to mitigate lung and brain injury for the protection ofthe developing or mature lung and brain from traumatic, environmental oriatrogenic injury.

 

Theassistant is responsible forperforming routine laboratory/research related tasks requiring expertise and/orwillingness to be trained.  The LabAssistant will participate in small and large animal studies with essentialduties including surgical assistance and instrumentation of experimental labanimals, experimental data analysis, maintaining lab equipment/research supplies,and assist in ordering supplies The Lab Assistant will also be required to:prepare tissues for biochemical and histological analysis, prepare standardsolutions and reagents, contribute to editing and creating laboratoryprotocols. Performs other related duties as assigned.

RequiredEducation and Experience
At least one year of directly relatedlaboratory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experiencemay be considered.

RequiredSkills and Abilities:

*Demonstrate ability to keep accurate and organized records ofresearch.

*Demonstrate ability to operate standard office equipment andsoftware including MS Office WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint.

*Lab animal handling experience

*Ability to lift 50 lbs.

*Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communicationskills.

*Ability to interact with a diverse population of students,faculty, and staff.

 

Preferred:

*BA degree.

*Vet Tech experience helpful but not required.

 

 

This is a Full Time Grant-Funded Position.
