Abilities and Skills

*Ability to teach in a variety of health related programs. (Minimum)
*Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
*Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)
*Must be certified in CPR at the Basic Life Support level and maintain certification throughout employment. (Minimum)
*Ability to provide instruction in subject area(s) for which hired. (Minimum)
*Functional ability with or aptitude to learn microcomputer functions. (Minimum)
*Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)
*Knowledge of learning theory and classroom management techniques. (Desired)
*Ability to work independently. (Desired)
*Instructor Credential in CPR at the Basic Life Support level or higher. (Desired)

Education

*Current Pennsylvania RN license. (Minimum)
*Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. (Minimum)
*Established plan to earn a Master’s Degree in Nursing by completion of third year of employment. (Minimum)
*Master’s Degree in Nursing. (Desired)

Experience

*Two (2) years of recent clinical nursing experience. (Minimum)
*One (1) year of long-term nursing care experience. (Desired)
*Relevant teaching experience on the secondary or post-secondary level. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential:
-Provide classroom/clinical instruction in the Penn College at Wellsboro Practical Nursing Program (both the Wellsboro and Coudersport location as needed) area in both on and off-campus sites under the direction of the Coordinator.
-In coordination with the Coordinator, create and maintain course materials, training manuals, curriculum, audio-visual aids, lesson plans, student assignments and exams, including laboratory demonstrations and clinical assignments for the program.
-Assist students to benefit from adequate clinical experiences by offering effective supervision and instruction in the clinical area, complying with the clinical sites’ policies and procedures.
-Uphold nursing program policies.
-Maintain, organize, and prepare nursing lab area, equipment and supplies.
-Provide feedback to students and assist with student and program evaluations, identifying academic and clinical problems as they surface, consulting with the Coordinator for resolution of the problems.
-Maintain daily attendance records, monitoring student make-up hours, assignments, quizzes, and exams.
-Attend department meetings as scheduled.
-Assist with scheduling, accreditation processes, health career explorations, and other program administration responsibilities as directed by the Coordinator.
-Remain abreast of new developments in the health career field and in the area of instructional technology, developing new educational techniques for the classroom and lab.
Marginal:
-Perform general housekeeping to keep equipment and facilities clean and orderly in the classroom, nursing lab, medical assistant, and office areas.
-Develop connections in the local community which promote the health and well-being of its residents.

Special Job Features

*Schedules will vary to meet the needs of the program.
*Travel to clinical sites or lecture locations in the Wellsboro and/or Coudersport areas.
*State Police, Child Line Act 80 Clearance under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL), and FBI clearance required before employment can begin.
*Immunizations and/or titers and Tuberculosis screening to comply with requirements of clinical facilities before employment can begin.
*This position is subject to a full background check.
