Job Details

The Executive Director is the key management leader for the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES), the undergraduate teaching innovation initiative in the College of Natural Sciences (CNS), and serves as a member of the College’s Leadership Team. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan for the organization. The Executive Director is also responsible for ensuring College and TIDES values are incorporated into all aspects of the organization, especially diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

Oversee TIDES Engage, Instruct, and Evaluate units. Direct efforts around enhancing experiential education and research through the College, including high-level management of the Freshman Research Initiative (FRI). Guide efforts around 21st Century Education efforts including curriculum redesign and teaching professional development and evaluation for faculty. Oversee work on program effectiveness, including impact on student progress and success, as well as providing grant evaluation support for CNS faculty and students.

Administer TIDES, including setting budget and budget priorities. Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate TIDES staff and faculty. Serve as TIDES’ primary spokesperson with constituents; establish and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders across campus and at a national level.

Actively seek extramural funding to support TIDES programming and partner with the CNS Development office to promote and fundraise for TIDES programming. Implement strategies for enhancing undergraduate education that are aligned with College and university-level goals. Identify possibilities and guide CNS in new efforts of educational innovation.
