Direct and monitor 2nd shift circulation/reserves/interlibrary workflow and perform a variety of circulation, reserves and interlibrary loan activities as assigned, with responsibility for processing electronic course reserves materials.

Position/Job Responsibilities

1. Direct and monitor the Circulation/Reserves/Interlibrary loan service points during 2nd shift library hours during
the academic semesters and summer sessions. As the sole staff person on duty, provide guidance for student
employees at additional service points during the 2nd shift. Hours vary depending on the academic calendar.
Perform a variety of circulation, reserves and interlibrary loan activities as assigned, with responsibility for processing electronic and print course reserves materials, and performing searches for library materials.
2. Participate in the interviewing, hiring, training and evaluation of student employees. Direct and monitor the daily
routine work of student employees who work at the Circulation Desk.
3. Open/Close the library building as scheduled.
4. Oversee building security during 2nd shift hours which may include checking each floor of the library for security
concerns and responding to various building alarms. Participate as a member of the Library Safety Team.
5. Assist with routine desk duties as scheduled, including, but not limited to, the checking out and returning of library
materials, advising patrons of library policies, resolving questions regarding overdue or lost library items including
fines or fees; accepting/recording credit card, ID Express and check payments for outstanding fines or fees, placing administrative recalls/holds, registering new users in the library Circulation system.
6. Accept, review and prepare electronic and print materials for course reserves to include, but not limited to, assessing copyright compliance; scanning documents; formatting documents for best resolution; transferring documents to the college’s course management system; creating bibliographic records in the library’s on-line
database. Assist with the processing/de-processing of faculty course reserve materials at the completion of a
course.
7. Assist interlibrary loan with electronic document delivery; deliver library materials to campus offices as assigned.
8. Assist with the preparation/updating of unit training manual by documenting processes/procedures in areas of
primary responsibility.
9. Search for library materials that may be missing or mis-shelved, which includes materials that users claim to have
returned. Prepare reports which indicate the outcome of library material searches.
10. Compile data and statistics on Circulation processes using various software programs.
11. Provide patron assistance with basic operation of scanners, library owned laptops, and various microfilm equipment and printers; assist with printer maintenance, order printer supplies as required, assist with other related hardware; report on-going problems requiring service to the Access Services Manager.
12. Inform the Access Services Manager of problems related to policies, procedures and building security.
13. Complete special projects and participate in events, as assigned, to further the strategic priorities of the Library.
14. Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

Position/Job Qualifications

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 3 years previous Library experience in circulation, interlibrary loan, document delivery or the equivalent combination of education and experience; strong attention to detail, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment. Good working knowledge of various spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs. Ability to prioritize projects, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working independently and as a member of a team; ability to interact with various constituencies of the College and students. Bachelor’s Degree and supervisory experience desired.
