Job Details
The Assistant Athletic Trainer provides athletic training coverage to assigned UNCW varsity teams who operate in limited facilities and tight class schedules. This position is responsible for recognition, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of injuries and must comply with policies and procedures related to athletic training services to include insurance management. Discretion and sound judgment is essential for this position as they work with confidential medical information and the health and well-being of student athlete. Professional judgment and discretion must be applied to each medical case. The Assistant Athletic Trainers advises coaches whether the athlete should return to competition in the absence of an onsite physician. All interactions involve significant independent interaction with university student athletes.
This position will provide athletic training coverage to UNCW’s women’s basketball team and the men’s and women’s golf teams that operate with limited facilities and tight class schedules.
Minimum RequirementsMaster’s degree in applicable field from an accredited institution
List the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position• National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board Certification – NATABOC.
• Must have a NC Athletic Training licensure or acquire this within 90 days.
• Professional Rescuer CPR and First Aid certified AED certified.
• Previous experience as athletic trainer at a college/ university.
