DescriptionJob Purpose: Provide unit level support in the installation, operation and maintenance of computer systems. Position typically addresses a wide variety of applications often involving highly complex issues, working under general supervision while providing work guidance to lower levels.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain and upgrade workstation and peripheral hardware and software.
  • Analyze and resolve complex workstation, application and server related problems.
  • Update desktop software/applications; maintain documentation on installed applications.
  • Provide users with assistance in working in specific applications.
  • Participate in development of standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work Experience: Two to four years job related experience.
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Skills: This job requires advanced knowledge of and skill in the installation and maintenance of information technology hardware and software, requiring a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures. Included are skills in problem solving, decision making, customer service, system documentation and communications.
 



Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: N/A
  • Preferred Work Experience: Experience with automated deployments of Windows operating systems and applications using tools such as SCCM, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Windows System Image Manager, Clonezilla, etc.  Experience with creating scripts using Powershell or other scripting languages to automate routine tasks.  Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls, particularly as they apply to the Windows operating systems.  Strong experience with Active Directory management, group policy management, Windows Server Update Services, and managing network shares.  Experience with Cisco switching and routing is desired.
  • Preferred Certifications:  DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT Level II compliance within12 months of hire. Two examples of such compliance are  Security+ andCISSP certifications
  • Preferred Skills:  Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, specifically Windows 10 and Server 2016.  Familiarity with full disk encryption using Bitlocker. Familiarity with Risk Management Framework is desired. 
Additional Information: Due to our contracting requirements with the federal government, candidates must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance

  Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain DoDDirective 8570.1 IAT Level II compliance within 12 months of hire. Two examplesof such compliance are  Security+ and CISSP certifications.


Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: users within assigned unit which can include management, faculty and staff personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: users and other support personnel. This position will supervise: NA.
