The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of The Teachers College at Emporia

State University. The Dean reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and administers a college offering bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist’s degree programs. The departments within The Teachers College are Counselor Education; Elementary Education, Early

Childhood, and Special Education; Health, Physical Education and Recreation; Instructional

Design and Technology; Psychology; and School Leadership/Middle and Secondary Teacher

Education.

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in any discipline within the college; a record as an accomplished academic administrator; a demonstrated record in teaching, service and research appropriate for the rank of Professor; an understanding of shared governance in academics, budgeting, and personnel issues; and experience in P-12 schools. Desirable competencies include experience as dean, an associate dean, or department chair; experience in leadership of CAEP/NCATE accreditation at the college level; experience with P-12 university collaborative efforts; experience and commitment to learning outcomes assessment.
