 The Department ofOrthopedics has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) ProgramAssistant I position.

Nature of Work:

The major function ofthis position is to serve as Program Assistant for the Orthopedic ResearchCenter.  This role entails supporting a core group of 10 PIs and theirlabs by serving as the primary office contact for the Center, administrativelysupporting research and educational programming and activities, scheduling andhosting visiting faculty, managing staff travel, coordinating web site updates,budgeting, other administrative duties as assigned.

 Examples of WorkPerformed:

  • Serve as primary Orthopedic Research Center contact supporting 10 labs and associated research faculty
  • Assist with scheduling, itinerary building and hosting visiting faculty
  • Manages Research Center event scheduling
  • Book all research faculty and staff travel including flights, hotels and conference registrations, as well as submitting expense reports
  • Manage Orthopedic Research Center website by updating with new events and announcements on an ongoing basis
  • Support all Center conferences by designing flyers and itineraries, organizing catering services, reserving conference rooms, etc.
  • Provide ongoing administrative and programmatic support to the Vice Chair of Research
  • Manages Research Center budget; reports key information to Vice Chair of Research and ensures proper expense allocation
  • Manages all Research Center expenses and reimbursements
  • Support faculty with procurement using CU Marketplace
  • Help new faculty obtain badge access and keys, submit facility work orders, etc.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with other special projects when assigned

     Salary and Benefits:The hiring salary forthis position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. Thisposition is eligible for overtime compensation.

    QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Four (4) years oftechnical/paraprofessional experience in an administrative role, includingevent coordination, travel arrangements, or budget management.

     Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in public health, publicadministration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing,healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or adirectly related field from an accredited institution.

     PreferredQualifications:

  • Experience serving as program coordinator in a research environment.
  • Experience with website management.
  • Competencies/Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with a large and constantly expanding research team
  • Ability to represent the Orthopedic Research Center with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Ability to self-manage priorities and be proactive in resolving issues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of tact and diplomacy
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe software
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Skilled at efficiently solving problems with minimal oversight.
