Facilities Services is a unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad, diverse division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at ECU. ECU is the third largest university in the University of North Carolina system with approximately 28,000 full-time students and a staff of approximately 6,000. The university is comprised of 6.2 million square feet of facilities located on 1319 acres with $1.49 billion in physical assets.* This includes the Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with university programs. Facilities Services has an annual budget in excess of $30 million and employs over 400 full-time employees. Major functions include facilities maintenance and housekeeping services. Facilities Services’ primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operation conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.
Job DutiesThe ideal candidate would perform basic cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and vacuuming. Candidate will fill dispensers with the correct product, listen to and respond to customers’ needs promptly and respectfully, and listen to directions and complete tasks. This person would also mix chemicals correctly and wear personal protective equipment.
Normal work hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., five days a week (including every weekend) with two days off between Monday and Friday. Position will require weekend, overtime, day, or evening hours.
Phone calls to the department are not necessary in order to be considered for this position.
Minimum Education/ExperienceDemonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/EducationHigh school diploma or GED
The ability to operate state-owned vehicles
Knowledge of cleaning procedures and also the ability to follow instructions
Physically able to perform medium to heavy housekeeping duties
License or Certification Required by the DepartmentN/A
