Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application. Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment in Theatre Studies beginning fall 2020. We seek an individual who is a practicing multidisciplinary artist and/or scholar, who is passionate about teaching, collaboration and contributing as part of a faculty re-shaping our conservatory for the current/future field on stage and in new media. We are especially interested in candidates who have expertise in varied approaches to directing, as they will be reshaping a BFA directing curriculum that caters to students with a wide variety of interests from devising to traditional scripted work to immersive theatre. In addition, a successful candidate will bring knowledge of theatre history and dramatic literature, as well as particular expertise in African American, Latinx, Indigenous or Asian American theatrical methodologies. The Theatre School has a proven record of presenting and fostering voices that reflect the rich, diverse cultural makeup of Chicago, and we seek someone who is passionate about continuing that mission. Long recognized as one of America’s top training institutions, The Theatre School was founded as The Goodman School of Drama in 1925 and is deeply rooted in Chicago’s traditions of ensemble, physicality and play. The Theatre Studies department includes BFA students in playwriting, theater management, dramaturgy, directing, comedy arts, education and engagement, and multidisciplinary practice.

Our faculty is made up of artists who are actively shaping the profession in Chicago’s world class theatre community, nationally and internationally. Graduates go on to lead the profession on stage and screen. Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching across a variety of settings will be considered. Candidates must possess a current, ongoing, and recognized theatrical or performance practice of at least 5 years. We will consider candidates who have extensive professional experience equivalent to having a terminal degree, and/or an MFA or PhD. Coursework will be determined by a combination of the school’s needs and the candidate’s expertise, but will include history of dramatic literature, as well as introductory and advanced BFA directing classes.

This position requires excellent mentoring skills, cultural competency, and demonstrated success with talent at early stages of professional artistic development. Faculty play important roles beyond the classroom; directing students in performances, regularly advising and evaluating students on both course and production work, and participating in administrative and service activities for the School.
