JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for creating a vision for student conduct and success on campus, which includes proactive programming, program assessment, data collection, data management and student crisis response.  This position provides stewardship of the College’s Code of Integrity for Academic and Behavioral Standards, Student Rights and Responsibilities, student conduct system, and case management. Interventions, referrals and follow up will be utilized to connect students to resources to help overcome barriers to success. Overall responsibilities include maintaining the policies, documents, and procedures related to the Integrity Code and student conduct system of the college, chairing the student Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), and collaborating with various offices, people and community partners to provide direct follow up to students who are in distress. This position reports to the Senior Director of Advising and Retention.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  1. Behavioral Intervention Team (60%):  Serves as Chair of the student Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Responds to behavioral alerts as reported by faculty/ staff and when necessary refers students to campus/community resources.

 

 

  • Meets with students seeking counseling and coordinates referrals through the Student Assistance Program.
  • Oversees the development of training for faculty and staff regarding campus resources and intervention services.
  • Coordinates with Campus Police and the Disability Support Services Office regarding students of concern.
  • Provides a personal and high-touch customized response to student need.
  • Maintains records for all behavioral cases and uses data to inform programmatic interventions, college policy and long-term planning.
  • Regularly assesses and enhances the effectiveness of BIT team processes, student referral experience and case management.

 

 

  1. Compliance with State and Federal laws (10%): Serves as the campus expert on understanding, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, and applying policies and procedures in accord with College policy as well as state and federal laws pertaining to student conduct, privacy/ FERPA, Clery, HECMA standards, discrimination, due process, athletics compliance, and related fields.

 

 

  1. Integrity and Code of Conduct (10%): Serves as primary administrator of the campus-wide Code of Integrity for Academic and Behavioral Standards and the Co-Chair of the Integrity Council
    • Responds to any credit, Continuing Education and Training, and/or adult education student violations as needed/appropriate.    
    • Serves as primary student judicial process advocate and works with the Integrity Council, college staff and students to ensure all are aware of code procedures and judicial processes and as the primary contact to students and faculty to adjudicate student and faculty complaints regarding infringements of the Code of Integrity.
    • Train Integrity Council members.

   

  1. Campus Outreach regarding Student Wellness (15%):  Serves as the chair of the REACH (Resources, Education and Empowerment, Advocacy and Access, Community, Health) committee, using data and research to inform the campus community regarding trends and issues on campus regarding student mental health, emotional well-being, and resources within the community.  
  1. Committee work and collaboration across campus (5%):

Serves as a member of the Crisis Response Oversight Team/Crisis Management Response Team, and participates in other related activities such as table top exercises and simulations. Works with Academic and Student Affairs staff to keep them abreast of current developments/procedures in these areas.

 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education or related field
  • Two years of full-time experience in Student Affairs and/or Student Conduct. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, presentation, and project management skills. 
  • Direct experience with crisis management, student case management, decision-making based on data, training of faculty and staff preferred.
  • Must be proactive and student-oriented, with a proven track record of effectively meeting the needs of students including special student populations within a college setting.
  • Understands the needs of diverse students and creates an inclusive and safe environment for all students.
  • Must be positive, cooperative and supportive

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus.  Direct interaction with students, staff and community partners, Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms; use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and observance of traffic laws when/if driving College vehicle.

SALARY:

This position will be placed on the 12 month Grade 12 college salary scale. Actual salary placement based on qualifications and experience. Position includes an excellent fringe benefit package. In order to qualify for employment, candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check.
