Description

TheFinancial Manager oversees a team of Grant Analysts at varyingexperience levels. The main function of the Financial Manager is to supervisethe day-to-day operations of externally sponsored awards. The Financial Manageris responsible for ensuring timely management of grant awards that they are assigned,as well as those he/she supervises.  It is expected that this individualhave excellent time management and organizational skills. The incumbent is alsoresponsible for the review and follow-up of overage reports, as well as theprocessing of monthly bills, and handling the problem/resolution of errorreports. The Financial Manager provides training to staff on the Banner Financesystem, Cognos reporting and other grant related policies and procedures asdeemed necessary by the incumbent or senior management. The Financial Managerreports any issues or problems related to the management of externallysponsored awards to the Post-Award Director on a regular basis. Performs otherduties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

RequiredEducation & Experience:

Bachelor'sdegree in business and a minimum of three years related experience.Demonstrated experience establishing priorities, providing training andfeedback, and ensuring the timely completion of projects. Demonstratedexperience supervising a staff. An equivalent combination of education andexperience may be considered.


RequiredSkills & Abilities:

*Demonstratedability to develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures with theapproval of senior management.

*Demonstrated ability todefine and implement strategies for projects managed and for work processes.
*Demonstrated advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and databasesoftware.
*Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of presentation software.
*Demonstrated ability to work with University information systems (BannerFinance, Cognos, etc.)
*Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems within area of expertise.
