Position Description:
The COHR Oral History Interviewer on the History of the Black LGBT Community in Los Angeles will design interviews and series that document the history of Black LGBT organizations in Los Angeles.The COHR Oral History Interviewer on the History of the Black LGBT Community does background research in relevant primary and secondary materials; conducts multi-session oral history interviews; and draws up timed logs, names lists, and other supplementary materials. As requested, gives presentations on the interviews conducted and develops on-line exhibit and other products (blog posts, publicity on social media, podcasts) that will contextualize and publicize those interviews.

The Center for Oral History Research is a subunit within UCLA Library Special Collections. COHR documents the history of Southern California through interviews with individuals who have participated in the region's most salient social and political trends. COHR's collection includes interviews on the arts, social movements, politics and government, education, and a variety of other areas. COHR has three career staff members and four to six student assistants. In addition to collecting interviews, COHR offers oral history instruction and advice and partners on oral history projects with the campus community and with the Los Angeles community at large.

The 2010 edition of U.S. News & World Report ranked UCLA as the 24th best university in the nation and 32nd best in the world. In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
