Position: Assistant Professor of Interactive Media and Production

Starting Date: August, 2020

Minimum Qualifications:
1) An earned Ph.D. or M.F.A. in film, media, interactive media or other closely-related disciplines from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required at the time of application.
2) Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level in areas that include, but are not limited to: Critical Making, Game Design, Interactive Media, or Media Production.
3) Professional experience in interactive media and production, that may include game design, VR and AR application design, app design, and/or digital production
4) Evidence of creative and/or scholarly activity in the field of interactive media.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Evidence of a creative practice and research that may include: critical unmaking and design processes; interactivity and narrative design; feminist and queer approaches to digital media; critical race theory in digital media; post-colonial and/or intersectional identities and embodiment.
2) Demonstrated Knowledge of creative coding, and/or experience with programming languages;
3) Experience with animation;
4) Professional experience related to entrepreneurship, leadership, project management, and/or producing
5) Experience in grant-funded research or creative activity;
6) Experience in supervising student-driven interdisciplinary projects;
7) Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse community partners.
8) The ability to position practice and/or scholarship within the curriculum of the Department of Film, Television, and Media. 

Duties: 
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

The successful candidate will teach courses in interactive media and production.

Salary: Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Television, Film, & Media Studies offers undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Television, Film and Media Studies. The department also offers a graduate program leading to a Master of Arts degree in Television, Film, & Media Studies, and a graduate program leading to the Master of Fine Arts degree in Television, Film, & Theatre, which is administered jointly with the Department of Theatre and Dance.
