Detailed Description:
Serves as the Chief Revenue Officer for Athletics. The Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs plans, manages, and directs corporate sponsorship sales, advertising sales and sponsor fulfillment; and the season ticket sales drive for all season ticket sales. The Senior Director will work with Marketing and Strategic Partnerships on campus-wide sponsorships. The Senior Director is responsible for all athletics television, radio and other media related contracts and fulfillment. Responsibilities also include the development of all advertising and coordination of merchandise sales for athletics. The Senior Director will coordinate efforts with the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Development and Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Strategic Partnerships.

This position works under the general guidance and direction of the Associate Vice President-Executive Director of Athletics (AVP-EDA). Coordination, fundraising direction and strategy for this position is also provided by the Associate Vice President of Development. This position exercises general supervision over the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions. Through the Assistant Director, supervises the Torero Spirit Team Coach, Torero Pep Band Director, graduate and undergraduate interns, casual workers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements sponsorship and partnership programs or provides oversight of multimedia partner responsible for such programs.
  • Develops and implements season ticket, individual and group sales campaign.
  • Develops and implements an athletic department marketing campaign.
  • Program supervision for designated sports and administrative areas.
  • Develops and manages all television, radio and other media partnerships.
  • Supervises the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions. Through the Assistant Director, supervises the Torero Spirit Team Coach, Torero Pep Band Director, graduate and undergraduate interns, casual workers and student workers.
  • Coordinates merchandising and licensing.
  • Provides support to athletic department special events.
  • Branding.
  • Communications.
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Represents and promotes the university and the Department of Athletics at appropriate alumni, community and university functions.
  • Serving on campus, NCAA, or WCC committees when requested or appointed
  • Representing USD at conferences and meetings when requested or appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the EDA.

    Job Requirements:
    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least ten years experience in marketing and promotions or related field required.
  • Experience in ticket management required.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends required.
  • Ability to attend on and off campus events required.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and communications skills required.
  • Thorough knowledge of athletics and experience in public relations and personnel management highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other graphic design programs desirable.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Heartsaver CPR /AED certification required. Must have this certificate within 6 weeks of employment.
  • California driver's license required within 6 weeks of employment.

    Special Conditions of Employment:
  • Availability to work long hours, nights and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to away contests, NCAA event and WCC meetings, when appropriate and necessary.
  • Successful completion of required background checks.

    Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

    Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
