Description:
The workload is driven by requests throughthe WebTMA work request/work order system, the preventative maintenance schedules and by projects. Thelocksmith position will provide good customer service to students, faculty, staff and external customers. The locksmithinstalls, maintains, repairs and adjusts all types of locks and their components for campus buildings, rooms, furnitureand vehicles; cuts and issues keys; knowledge of master key systems in order to design and set up coding systemsinvolving varying types of locks and keyways; programs and issues key cards; implements, troubleshoots, repairs and programs computerized access control systems; repairs and maintains electronic locks; upgrades and maintainssecurity systems; maintains and repairs automatic door openers, door closing units and control gates; services andmaintains safes; inspects completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance withapplicable building and safety codes and regulations; inspects related work performed by contractors; estimates cost,time and materials for locksmith projects; maintain records; maintain related equipment; insure ADA standards arebeing maintained; participates in the maintenance and operations of a locksmith shop.
In addition, the position willprovide general maintenance services for the campus. This position supports campus sustainable principles andpractices. Employee strives to improve operational performance by evaluating decisions using the sustainability “lens”.
As essential personnel, this position will be required to remove snow and ice when seasonal conditions require it andrespond to other campus emergencies if needed / required.
Key responsibilities include:
Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PD/PM) Utilizing WebTMA: 40%
Inspects varying types of locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, and hardware. Proactivelydetermines that locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, and hardware are in proper workingcondition. Schedule predictive/preventative maintenance tasks with department objectives for locks and keyways,lock systems, equipment, components, and hardware with PM work orders within the WebTMA work request/workorder system. Maintains assigned locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, hardware and toolinventory; documents and records locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, hardware and toolinventory information for data records and updates Work Management Administrator of new locks and keyways,lock systems, equipment, components, hardware and tool changes to keep WebTMA data current and accurate.Ensures the WebTMA system is being correctly utilized daily, monthly and yearly to manage and document PD/PM work tasks. Completes all PD/PM work orders per department procedures and time frames with technicianlabor time, material costs and description of work performed in detail appropriately documented. Conducts work ina safe manner. Drives department vehicles and uses appropriate equipment to support these activities.
Routine and Requested Maintenance (RM) Utilizing Web TMA: 45%Submits/enters data into the WebTMA work request/work order system. Enters, documents, prioritizes, and completes work orders per department procedures and in a timely manner. Ensures the WebTMA system is being correctly utilized daily, monthly and yearly to manage and document work tasks. Demonstrate timely communication with customers on RM work orders of any additional work order information or status changes that may impact workspaces or customers directly. Ensures customer is notified of work completion for review. Maintains assigned locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, hardware and tool inventory; documents and records locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, hardware and tool inventory information for data records and updates Work Management Administrator of new systems, equipment, component and tool changes to keep WebTMA data current and accurate. RM work includes, but is not limited to the following, inspects, repairs, installs, services and maintains locksets, cuts keys, issue keys, replaces or repairs worn or broken locks, installs push button locking systems, combination changing, and maintains the integrity of the key system through proper procedures, patents, mastering and design of access. Issues, collects, and tracks documentation on all hard-key locks, padlocks, combination locks and other related equipment. Maintains work area in a safe and highly organized manner. Repair safes and change combinations per request. Installs, repairs or replaces window and door hardware, including latches, hinges, closures, panic hardware, ADA devices, card access devices and other related materials. This also includes bathroom hardware and partitions. Observes and complies with department, state and federal codes, and regulations. Provides general maintenance to campus buildings, related properties, and vehicles. Reads blueprints and shop drawings to ascertain position and placement of locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components, hardware, understanding system operation and function. Learns system design of existing campus GF buildings. Works with leadership in identifying controlled maintenance projects. Participates in monthly building maintenance assessments, this includes routine inspections of locks and keyways, lock systems, equipment, components and hardware. Conducts work in a safe manner, observes safety of others and recommends precautionary action while repairs are in progress. Drives department vehicles and uses appropriate equipment to support these activities.
Service/Project Support: 5%
Puts together bids/estimates from various supply distributors and vendors for campus maintenance/repairprojects. Provide support to P, D & C for small/large projects including reviewing drawings, specifications andcontrol "sequence of operations" to ensure design meets University guidelines/standards. Coordinate installationsrelated to projects, perform quality assurance inspections and attend project walk-throughs as required.
Other Duties as Assigned: 2%
Work of a similar nature to the other specific duties assigned.
Safety Training and Professional Development: 3%
Attends documented safety “tailgate” meetings, monthly documented safety in-services, and core safety in-services held by EH& S. Meet 16 to 23 hours or more of trade specific training annually. Maintain, renew, or recertify licenses and certifications.
Essential Personnel: 5%
Provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the campus, ensure continuity of keyoperations, and maintain and protect campus properties. Responds to emergencies on campus related to loss ofpower, fire, flooding, HVAC breakdowns or safety and security actions. Participates in seasonal snow removal andice mitigation using hand and motorized devices. Drives trucks and other snow removal vehicles to meet servicerequirements as directed by Manager, Maintenance Services. Conducts work in a safe manner

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Four years of experience in locksmith services, such as installing, maintaining, repairing, and adjusting all types of locks & components, cutting and issuing keys, computerized access control systems, and electronic locks.
- Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license (or ability to obtain).
- Must be a Colorado resident.
- Associates degree and/or vocational school in a related field.
- Eight to ten years in experience in locksmith services.
- Certified Professional or Master Locksmith (CPL or CML) by Associated Locksmiths of America.
- Two to three years of experience in commercial setting such as a university or hospital.
