Position Summary
An intermediate level of work which maintains landscape, hand powered tools and equipment. Performs a variety of tasks such as planting, trimming, sod laying, watering, and mowing in order to maintain and upkeep areas around college buildings, facilities and maintains landscaping equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge and/or understanding of gasoline/electrical engine and repair. Knowledge of or ability to learn to use a computer. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, push, lift, dig, haul, pull, reach, carry, grasp, squat or stoop, bend and twist the body while performing essential duties, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Graduation from high school or equivalent plus one year of landscaping, construction and grounds keeping. One year of experience with sprinkler systems; repairing and installation. Some positions may require current pesticide license; specific requirements vary according to location needs. Valid driver's license required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in the work of Landscape Technicians engaged in trimming shrubs, bushes, trees and planting foliage. Performs various functions such as mowing grass with riding and push mowers, edging and trimming. Ensures safe work practices for landscape areas and ensures campus complies with city ordinances as advised by supervisor. Supervises and participates in the work of Landscape Technicians engaged in weeding flowerbeds, transplanting flowers and trees. Assists in the maintenance of the sprinkler system; or notifies supervisor of issues with sprinkler. Applies products such as fertilizer according to schedule, follows safety procedures and label instructions. Responsible for the safe storage of all landscape equipment. Maintains and repairs equipment, such as, tractors and mowers, etc.
Provide assistance with facilities maintenance service duties during dormant months as assigned by supervisor.
Performs related work as required.
